This blog is the first course blog to be hosted at Loyola. Now that most of the kinks have been worked out, other faculty may want to start using blogs. I will be making a report to the faculty on Nov. 4 about our experience. Accordingly, I would appreciate hearing comments from you about the blog, both as to its usefulness to you, and ease (or complexity) of use. As always, your comments may be posted anonymously.
Posted by The Professor at October 28, 2005 11:12 AMthe blog is really helpful in tying all the issues we discuss in class together. it also serves as a point of reference in what information would be useful to include in my outline of the course.
Posted by: achen at October 28, 2005 11:49 AMThe blog is really useful. Even though I've rarely added comments, reviewing the threads has been helpful in clearing up issues that might have been confusing in class.
Posted by: arde at October 28, 2005 01:01 PMThe class blog is really helpful in understanding the very complicated Con Law principles we discuss in class because while class is a compressed time period, the blog is always there for us to consult. Also, it is a great way for us to respond to class and current event issues. I've commented on a few issues that I feel particularly strongly about, and it is nice because you can say things that we don't have time for in class.
Posted by: Amy Spencer at October 28, 2005 02:37 PMThe blog has proved to be an extremely helpful study aid over the course of the semester. When I need to clarify a concept, the blog has consistently helped me, as well as providing a contemporary outlook on Con Law issues. I hope to see other classes implement blogs in the near future.
Posted by: Collin Cook at October 31, 2005 06:40 PMThough I don't use the blog as often as I want to, I do think it is an excellent device to expand on the topics we discuss in class as well as current constitutional laws issues that we don't really have time in class to discuss. I predict that the blog will be even more popular, and thus helpful, come december and finals.
Posted by: Russell Morse at November 2, 2005 12:27 AMI think the blog is a great idea. It allows individuals to ask questions while at the same time discovering new ones from other students in the class. There are a lot of ideas and comments that I find useful in clarifying complex con. law issues. Students can post question/comments/news-class related information, all in one area making the information easily attainable for students. So far so good-I recommend the Blog 100%.
Posted by: ramin hariri at November 2, 2005 12:40 AMThe blog is not only very helpful in keeping in touch with "hot" topics, it also represents an opportunity for student to be heard. Of course, the key to a successful bog is a strong commitment by the host, which Prof. Manheim proved. Without one, it would just be a useless tool
Posted by: lior kosovski at November 2, 2005 05:08 PMThe Blog does an excellent job of condensing the topics covered in class, and encouraging student discussion of current events dealing with the constitution. Now that it appears the technical difficulties have been fixed, the blog will be a helpful tool for studying for finals.
Posted by: Andrew Aukland at November 3, 2005 01:00 PMI find the Professors explanations of certain topics on the blog to be very helpful, especially because you can work with them at our own pace.
